What Was The Highlight Or Most Memorable Moment Of Your Tour

Oaxacal (colonial city), Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, Tikal (the Maya metropolis). Very interesting tour starting from Mexico then Guatemala (Spanish speaking) and Belize (English speaking) - beautiful unspoilt scenery, ancient archaeological sites, religion, art, different culture - overall a very interesting pleasant trip!

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Anita was very professionnal - very knowledgeable about the history, doing her best to please everybody in the group and answering any questions we may have.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

This is a tiring trip so be prepared with the early wake up calls (although you can fall asleep on the bus during the day) - there is also a lot of travelling involved to allow you to visit these three cities - you also have to be fit for some climbing on the pyramids (under the heat)! Do not use or drink tap water (tummy problems) - be sure to take with you different currencies for your trip (mainly US Dollars)!

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

Too early calls (sometimes not really necessary) .... Nice to have some free time from time to time!

Completely professional. She kept it going wonderfully.

What Tips Would You Give To Someone Else Booking This Tour

Bring a variety of clothing. The nights are cooler at high altitudes. Bring plenty of film or a huge memory card. The visual delights are never-ending.

Do You Have Anything Else To Add

One of the most varied holidays I've ever had, Aztec and Maya relics, each one unique, colonial towns, ethnic by-ways, markets and a chance to see the art of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.

How Was Your Explore Tour Leader

Very good on Mexican history but had very poor people skills. For example , in Mexico City on the first outing she left 7 of the group behind who had to make their own way back to the hotel. Didn't arrange a group meal until the 3rd evening. There is more but i don't want this to be a diatribe.

Completed a comprehensive feedback form and am very disappointed that Explore have not responded to it.

Our Response

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to know you felt your tour leader didn’t always give good service; but there seems to have been a misunderstanding over the seven people you thought might have been left behind. Ana did what she and other tour leaders regularly do – offered people the option to stay on for free time after the included activities for the day are finished, or come back with her to the hotel. Those who stay on get given maps and advice on how to get back to the hotel. We don’t think anyone was left behind other than by their own choice.

With regard to the feedback forms, we don’t routinely reply to these unless there are serious concerns raised, or customers have added a note asking us to contact them. We get tens of thousands of forms each year, so it’s not realistic to respond to each one. The form has our email and land addresses on it, with a request to contact us via one of those if you would like a
