The highlights for me were the boat trip down the River Li, the Terracotta Warrioirs, Tinamenan Square, the Forbidden City and the walk on the Great Wall of China. Our Tour Leader Tracey was amazing and kept us all organised.

We also had an unexpected experience on a bullet train to Beijing as the government had cancelled the overnight sleeper to Beijing which was great as it meant we had an extra night in Beijing.

The highlights were many: good company, excellent tour leader, good variety of experiences, the "highlights" well-chosen to show us first-timers in China some of the best of its treasures. Of those, the ancient wall around Xi'an (even in the rain), going up to the Peak in Hong Kong, the trip down the Li River from Guilin, and the Great Wall all stand out in my mind. It was even an adventure to take the overnight "soft sleeper" train (not once, but twice) as an efficient way to move us around the vast distances in China during the night to leave the days free to continue to explore.
