Seeing a sloth! - how the guide spotted it I don't know - it still took us several minutes to spot even when he was pointing it out.

Seeing turtles nest, lay and hatch.

Peering down a 'live' volcano and also climbing one.

The scenery was spectacular with volcanoes, rainforests and old colonial cities. The birds around the lakes and mangrove swamps were the highlight of the tour. Seeing hundreds of crocodiles basking in the sun was memorable and all the optional excursions to hot springs, islands and the womens' refuge gave excellent added value. The tour has many very interesting highlights but involves several long bus journeys in very hot conditions. It is not that physically active as a trip but gives a fascinating insight into central American countries. Hotels were variable with some lovely one and others that are best forgotten. Don't take too much clothes/stuff as you have to move around a lot and it was easy to get washing done.

Brilliant holiday, so much to see and do. Highlights were Atitlan Lake, Copan Ruins, climbing a volcano and zip wiring through the rainforest.Jose was fantastic! Very friendly, lots of knowledge and went out of his way to get to know each member of the group. Couldn't of asked for a better tour leader, he's a credit to Explore.

El Salvador in general - so unspolit by tourism.. Cascada Los Tercios, a 30 metre waterfall with rectangular basalt formation which looks manmade. Struggle to the bottom, sheer rock to climb back and being accompanied by 2 animated local police ... Or zip wiring at Miravale - what an exhilaration and the guides were fantastic! And finally being in Honduras on election night and the following day as the celebrations went on, and on, and on...Lou was knowledgeable friendly and extremely competent. She took time out with every member of the team to get to know them and share quality time. She is so well known, and loved, throughout the region that her contacts make for smooth transitions across borders and in hotels and additional extras come easily. Such as shame we lost her halfway through when she was robbed :-(

Wonderful holiday, highlights Atitlan Lake visiting the island people. Seeing lots of lovely scenery, volcanoes and mountainous valleys, and rainforests. The buzz and colours and flowers at Chichi market. Copan Ruins is a lovely site set amongst lots of trees. Granada wandering through lots of small lanes and finding a small 'chocolate' museum, mmm. Even the restaurants and hotels are all different, El Salvador hotel being the best. The tents in the rainforest, going to sleep listening to the forest sounds.Miguel was a very happy, helpful guide. I did find him hard to understand quite a lot, but he was full of information and he was always willing to answer questions even if he had already covered what we were asking. If Miguel is your guide don't be disappointed he is a very experienced approachable guide.

Leon and Granada - great architecture, interesting historical cities, good atmosphere. Mayan ruins at Copan.
Perhaps avoid travel over Christmas and New Year, busy border crossings, especially Nicaragua-Costa Rica

Volcano trek was great! - it was also good to see the Easter parade in Guatemala due to the date iodine the trip - all was fantastic and the travel was long but the stops on route were good - possibly a reminder to take snacks on bus as sometimes lunch was a roadside petrol station and not much choice etc but made the travel journey shorter

I loved the opportunity to visit so many countries in one trip and get a sense of how they differed and what they had in common. I liked that there was free time built into the trip. It gave a sense of freedom to do one's own thing and sense of relaxation too.
I did zip wiring in Nicaragua and was able to go white water rafting in Costa Rica. As the three optional activities were on at same time in Costa Rica it meant people could only do one.
Highlight - hard to pick just one. The trip was varied and each country had it's own special moments. I did love laid back Antigua.

Seeing so many places in such a short space of time was both a plus and minus. great to pack so much in but would have liked longer at some. Not much included en-route during travelling days.
