Seeing whales and dolphins in the wild is one of the most thrilling sights in nature. These beautiful creatures have inspired adventurers young and old for generations and continue to do so today.
The variety of whales that can be seen across the oceans are too numerous to mention, but among the most impressive are the acrobatic humpback whale and the 30 metre long blue whale, which at 170 tonnes is the largest known animal to have ever existed. Other species include orcas (killer whales) as well as sperm whales, minke whales and pilot whales.
Dolphins are probably the liveliest and most curious creatures of the sea, with frequent sightings of bottlenose and common dolphins in many parts of the world.
Several Explore tours have whale and/or dolphin watching excursions. We work only with local operators who follow our strict guidelines on viewing wildlife in its natural habitat, so you can be sure your experience watching these majestic creatures is doing no harm.
