Made In Canada

Made with Care

Local Brands That Go the Distance

We believe that travel isn’t just about places we explore, it’s also about how you get there, and what you choose to take with you.

We’re proud to support sustainable travel by drawing inspiration and learning from the thoughtful efforts of local brands at home. We look to Canadian brands doing meaningful work, leading with care, creativity, and a deep sense of responsibility. These brands remind us that real change can begin right where we are.

Across the country, there are businesses working hard to uplift communities, protect the planet, and make everyday choices a little more thoughtful. Among them, four incredible brands stand out for the way they show up with heart, with purpose, and with community impact. Whether it's through eco-friendly beginnings, deep-rooted values, or a commitment to giving back, they help us imagine a better way to travel … and a better way to live.

To celebrate Canada Day, we’re honouring some of our favourite homegrown brands that put people and the planet first. We've partnered with our friends at Miik, Heys, Orso, and tentree to bring you a giveaway full of sustainable, Canadian-made gear you'll love to use AND a special something from us at Explore.

Enter below for your chance to win a prize pack guaranteed to take your adventure to the next level. Contest closes July 31, 2025.

tentree

From humble beginnings in Saskatchewan to getting their hands dirty planting trees in Alberta and BC, tentree is a proud Canadian company through and through (they even pitched on Dragon’s Den). For each item sold, the brand plants trees worldwide that capture carbon, restore ecosystems, protect wildlife habitats, and create jobs in communities that need them most. So far, they've planted over 110 million trees — and they're just getting started.

All of tentree’s clothing is Earth-First, meaning it's made with the planet and people in mind. As a certified B Corp with a score of 136.2, they rank among the top five Canadian apparel brands and the top 100 Canadian B Corps. Their mission? Plant 1 billion trees by 2030.

Orso

Orso was created on a mission to reduce waste in the fashion industry by utilizing existing plastic waste to create the most comfortable, durable, and sustainable activewear available. The Canadian brand is aiming to collect over 23,000 lbs of ocean waste by 2026 from its launch in March 2024.

Based in Toronto, founders Justine and Jaewon aspire to build a brand that is socially accountable and trusted by all Canadians and beyond by ensuring that every piece of clothing has a net positive impact on the environment, making the Orso community feel good inside and out.

Heys

Heys began in 1986 as a small, family-run business based in the suburbs of Toronto and has proudly remained a Canadian-founded brand ever since. What started locally has grown into a globally recognized name in travel gear, known for stylish, high-quality designs and groundbreaking innovation.

With over 50 patents and several industry firsts — including the world’s first eco-friendly luggage — Heys has led the way in combining fashion with function and sustainability. Despite its global reach, Heys remains committed to its Canadian roots and supports shopping locally by continuing to operate the head office out of Canada. Sustainability, durability, and exceptional customer care remain at the heart of everything Heys creates.

Miik

Miik was founded in 2010 in Toronto when Donna Smith’s husband came home with an orange bamboo skirt—one she jokingly called “ugly” but couldn’t stop wearing because it was unbelievably soft. That moment sparked a desire to learn more about sustainability and create clothing that felt amazing and aligned with her values. Donna envisioned a Canadian-made clothing brand built on comfort, style, and purpose—designing pieces she actually loved, made from the same buttery soft, sustainable fabric as that "ugly" orange skirt.

From day one, Miik has done fashion differently—locally producing every piece within 50km of their Toronto office to reduce emissions and support ethical practices. They mill their own bamboo and modal fabrics, known for softness, durability, and a lighter environmental footprint. For Miik, sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s in the brand’s DNA.
