France

August may be France’s official national vacances but the country also presses pause for three weeks in late June, as attention turns to the country’s sporting pride and passion: the Tour de France. The world’s premier cycle race takes over the most scenic parts of the country, showcasing chocolate-box villages, lofty mountain passes and wide boulevards. Get ahead of the peloton on a cycling holiday in France, or explore French landscapes on foot.

USA

June signals the start of summer in the USA’s national parks: the trails begin to open, the snow is largely free from all but the highest routes and footfall is low – it’s a great time to travel before the crowds swell ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend and sizzling summer months. Georgia

June is the ideal time to explore Georgia by bicycle, with pleasant temperatures making hilly ascents a breeze, flowers blooming in the meadows and snow dusting the mountain peaks. Lithuania

The Baltic States endure long, dark winters, so when the Summer Solstice rolls around the longest day is a cause for great celebration. During the month of June, the landscape turns green and lush, while the Pagan festivities highlight the magnitude of the event. On Midsummer’s Eve, there are celebrations across the country; embark on our holiday to Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia and you’ll get to explore the Baltic trio of atmospheric capitals, golden sand dunes and opulent palaces.

Greece

With endless opportunities to cool off in the turquoise sea, Greece is an idyllic destination in June. Step onboard a traditional Greek Cruise and take in the serene coves and harbours of Evia Island, in between indulging in organic wine at waterfront taverns. Croatia

There’s nothing quite like exploring the Dalmatian Coast by bike in the Mediterranean sunshine. Setting off from a scenic seaside town, just a short distance from Split, you’ll explore the historic heart of Croatia before embarking on a ferry to Hvar. Other cycle rides explore the beautiful Korcula Island and Konavle Valley, with time for dips in the ocean in between.

Peru

Travel to Peru in June for the Winter Solstice, where it’s officially the dry season. The Inti Raymi festival in Cusco is the highlight of the calendar, when local people gather together to show appreciation to the Sun God with music, colourful costumes and – best of all – the sharing of food. The ancient Inca festival is held once per year and on our Classic Peru trip, you’ll get to witness a historical reconstruction at Sacsayhuaman Fortress.

Canada

Canada’s scenery doesn’t disappoint at any time of the year, but in June the beauty of late spring brings the spectacular landscape into its own. The winter blanket of snow beats its retreat, though can still be seen on the higher peaks offering a fabulous contrast between the lush forests and spring flowers. Italy
