Explore has announced its newest offering: an alternative city tour of Lima. Whereas every other tour of the Peruvian capital almost entirely stays ‘downtown’, this new excursion – the brain child of local Explore tour leader Nilton Bedrinana – is designed to avoid the tourist hordes.

On this Lima city tour, travellers will get the chance to see both the wealthiest and poorest areas of the city, walk by ‘El Olivar’ (a 400-year old olive forest), shop in colourful markets and mingle with locals. The tour also includes a trip up to San Cristobal Hill, which rises high above the city – where fantastic 360 degree views of the city landscape can be seen.
Jason Beevis, Product Manager at Explore says: “This new ‘alternative’ city tour will give travellers a truer insight into Lima’s colourful contrasts, and shows Explore’s continuing commitment to bring cutting-edge, ‘under-the-skin’ travel experiences.”
The half day tour - “Lima City Detour” costs $30 per person and is available as an addition to all of Explore’s small group tours to Peru.
