From the moment we arrived in Morroco we felt we were in a different world.  Our Marrakech hotel was very simple but perfectly adequate and as it was only twenty five minutes walk from the souks and medina it was easy to start exploring straight away.  On our first tour day we took off in the minibuses into the mountains and were introduced to our mules. The handlers helped us mount... just as well as it was a bit tricky, with there being no saddle or stirrups and only a blanket to grab hold of, but we soon got used to it and trekked up into the hills through the tiny villages to our gite which had amazing views of the valley. On our fourth day we cycled to Atlas film studios... the cycle ride was a couple of hours long and over rough stony desert (a bit like cycling a river bed) so if you’re not used to off road cycling it’s hard work and definitely worth packing padded shorts!  The support vehicle followed us and was on hand for any bike repairs or to provide a lift.  The camel ride into the sand dunes and sleeping under shooting stars was definitely the high light of the whole trip but we could have slept in the big communal tents if we wanted to.  Overall it was an amazing tour, different activities to every day and never feeling like we were on a tourist treadmill.  Our guides were very flexible and adapted the itinerary if there was something in particular that we wanted to do, or not do.  This was our first adventure holiday and now wecan’t wait to try another.
