Accompanied by expert astronomer Andrew Green, we travel to Iceland in search of the spectacular Northern Lights. We explore the famous ‘Golden Circle’, including Thingvellir National Park and Strokkur geyser. We also visit lava fields and unwind in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon.

Join tour Reykjavik airport, Blue Lagoon.
Meet at Keflavik airport. We start our tour directly from the airport by driving to the famous Blue Lagoon where we soak up the scenic beauty and enjoy breathing the clean, fresh air while relaxing in the warm geothermal seawater. After a refreshing bath we drive via Selvogur to the cosy little village of Stokkseyri where we will visit a local folklore museum which has an interesting video on the Northern Lights that we will watch here or at our hotel this evening. We will be staying for the next two nights at a guesthouse especially chosen for its location so that we can maximise our chances of seeing the Northern Lights. This evening Astronomer Andy will give a presentation and explain the Aurora Borealis.

Southshore
Today we have an opportunity to stand behind the plummeting Seljalandsfoss waterfall, walk up to the Skógafoss waterfall and gaze at the formations. We travel along the South coast of Iceland as far as Vík í Mýrdal a small charming village surrounded by beautiful high bird cliffs. Highlights of the day are stunning views of glaciers, black lava sand coast lines and impressive rock formations.

Gullfoss – Geysir – Þingvellir - Reykjavik
Today we go to the famous Golden Circle which includes three of Iceland's most iconic sites. The order of the day may depend on conditions but we will visit Þingvellir National Park, home of Iceland’s ancient Viking parliament and listed as a UNESCO’s World Heritage site. There we take a walk to experience firsthand the geological wonder of the mid-Atlantic ridge. From Þingvellir, our golden circle tour continues as we head east over Lyngdalsheiði following a mountain-road with great views of the rugged lava fields. Passing Laugarvatn lake, we arrive to Haukadalur, home of the great Geyser and the reliable Strokkur geyser that erupts with 3 to 7 minutes intervals, spouting boiling water to a height of 25 to 35 meters. We then head up to the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall cascading down in the white colored Hvítá river originating in the Langjökull glacier. We travel to Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland and make a short tour of the city before going to our accommodation which is located in the outskirts but offers the best view of the Northern Lights. We head into Reykjavik for our last night meal on the tour.
