Solo holidays in Morocco should include visits to 'magical' restaurants

The country has some great French restaurants due to its history

Travellers who are planning to take a solo holiday to north Africa should travel to Morocco, according to author and journalist Hermione Eyre.

The writer wrote in the Evening Standard about the country's fantastic hotels and beautiful restaurants. Due to Morocco's colonial ties to France, people can sample a vast range of European cuisine as well as traditional African dishes.

Ms Eyre recommended one restaurant from each of these categories to potential travellers on solo holidays.

"Tucked away in the 17-acre garden at La Mamounia is a magical Moroccan restaurant run by 16 female chefs who each specialise in a single dish," she wrote.

"In the French restaurant run by two-Michelin-starred chef Jean-Pierre Vigato, even a plate of buttered vegetables was miraculously tasty - they had all been grown in the hotel garden."

Morocco is part of the Maghreb region of Africa, along with other north African countries such as Tunisia, which also has historical ties to French culture and cuisine.
