Adelaide is within close proximity to the Australian outback
Adelaide is an ideal base for adventure holidays as it is within close proximity to the famous Australian outback.
That is according to an article on the Independent website, which underlined the rich activities holidaymakers can embark on in its wine regions, such as Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley.
These areas are home to a range of wineries and ideal for those looking to enjoy a long and relaxed lunch, but there are also areas in and around the city which are perfect for adrenaline-junkies.
It said: "This coastal city is closer to the outback than any other on the continent, so you can have a beach or bush experience and be back in time for dinner at one of the city's rising number of restaurants that serve sun-drenched regional produce."
Sports fans will also be well catered for as the city is home to a number of top-class events including the Ashes cricket series and the Tour Down Under cycling event.
Adelaide is the capital of the state of South Australia and is the fifth-most populous city in the country.
