Solo holidays to eastern Europe should take in 'spectacular' Tallinn
E-mail Print

People on solo holidays in Estonia's capital should visit Old Town

People planning solo holidays to Estonia should spend time in the capital's Old Town, according to the country's tourist board.

Mary Stuart-Miller, UK director of tourism, Estonia Tourist Board, said that this area of Tallinn is the focal point for any visit to the city.

Ms Stuart-Miller noted that "Brits often get confused about which Baltic capital is which and it is a challenge to communicate what Estonia's capital, Tallinn, has to offer".

She added that what was worth doing was a "walk up to Toompea Hill to get a spectacular view across Tallinn's medieval and modern rooftops to the Bay of Finland".

The Estonian capital has been designated European Capital of Culture for 2011, in the same year that it celebrates 20 years of Soviet independence.

According to recent figures from the Estonia Tourist Board, visitor numbers from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, have shown a steady growth since January 2010 of 13 per cent.
