Colombia is home to sites such as Amazon and Andes
Colombia offers people on adventure holidays a "striking physical variety" with sites such as the Amazon rainforest and the Andes mountain range, according to a travel expert.
Sarah Woods, who is a travel journalist, wrote for the adventure travel magazine Wanderlust that the nature in the country is powerful as well as beautiful.
"Few countries boast such striking physical variety as Colombia, a nation geographically complex and physically vast, encompassing Pacific and Caribbean coasts, lofty Andean highlands, sweaty jungle lowlands, fertile plains and cacti-clad desert," she said.
The travel writer added that one of the most astonishing things about the South American country is that it has over 60 designated national parks or protected natural areas.
Ms Woods is an expert in travelling to Columbia, having written the Bradt Travel Guide for the country. She was also behind the same guidebook for Panama and contributed to the advice book 101 Adventure Weekends in Europe.
