Tourism board note the country is a 'main destination' for many different travellers

People planning to take an adventure holiday to South America might like to visit Brazil, as it is becoming the "main destination" for many different types of traveller, according to Embratur, the Brazilian tourist board.

Marco Lomanto, products and destinations director at the travel organisation, has stated that the 2010s are "the decade for the world to discover Brazil".

"Various investments from the Brazilian government and a robust marketing campaign are leading Brazil to become one of the main destinations for all kinds of tourists," he noted.

Statistics show that more and more people are discovering all that Brazil has to offer, from those planning adventure holidays to people who just want to explore fantastic cities such as Rio de Janiero.

So far this year, the South American country has seen "a record-breaking number of tourists", according to the Mr Lomanto.

"Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and the state of Bahia were the most popular tourist destinations last year," he noted.
