Kaieteur Falls promises to be quieter than some more popular falls

People planning to visit a waterfall on an adventure holiday might want to take a trip to Guyana to take in one which promises not to be as busy as Niagra and Victoria.

Kaieteur Falls, located in the centre of the South American country, is one of the "most amazing" waterfalls in the world, according to Paul Bloomfield, an author for travel guide firm Lonely Planet.

"These remote falls may not be the highest, the heaviest or the most famous - but they're probably the wildest," the writer noted.

"Secreted away in the lush interior of Guyana … the Potaro River plummets 250m from a sandstone plateau. On the trail to the falls you might spot vivid blue butterflies, scarlet birds and the golden dart-poison frog."

There is wildlife everywhere around this stunning waterfall, even when you cannot see it. People on adventure holidays will be able to listen through the jungle and hear the distinctive screech of the howler monkey.
