Mellow destination is ideal for activity trips
People planning an adventure holiday may like to consider travelling to the relatively little-known African destination of Malawi, known as the 'heart of Africa'.
That is because according to Rosie Fuller, who is editor of Adventure Travel magazine, who noted that - although it is often seen as a great place to go on a relaxing trip, it is also ideal for activity trips.
"[Malawi is] known as one of Africa's most mellow destinations but there's a lot of adventurous stuff too," she said.
The travel expert continues that people taking an adventure holiday to the destination should take in everything from "the floating mountain of Mulanje ... to Lake Malawi, Africa's third largest lake, which is also known as the Lake of Stars (when you go there you'll see why)".
Mount Mulanje - sometimes known as Mulanje Massif - is over 3,000 metres high. One of the best times of year to go hiking in this mountain, or just around Malawi, is in the dry season between May and August.
