Tourism board promotes US state as ideal for adventure holidays

The US state of Arizona is an attractive respite located in a rich geographical area, making it ideal for outdoor activities and adventure holidays, according to the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Douglas MacKenzie, director of communications at the tourism board, noted that the Sonoran Desert promotes all manner of activities, "from hiking to hot air ballooning to playing golf on more than 200 courses" in the area.

"[The area] is an attractive respite not only because we enjoy over 320 days of sunshine, but [we] are located in a rich geographical area, ... where you see cactus that you would normally only see in cartoons," he said.

People planning to take an adventure holiday to Arizona should experience some of the fantastic sights in and around the US state, such as the Grand Canyon or the Navajo Indian reservation Monument Valley.

A trip to Arizona could be combined with one in Nevada, where travellers are able to experience both sublime nature and the stunning city of Las Vegas.
