Turkmenistan Tours

Tours in Turkmenistan

Lavish palaces, gold statues and marble monuments converge with pilgrimage sites and ancient ruins in this little visited land in Central Asia. Dipping in and out of Turkmenistan, we will uncover some of the country’s historic treasures and experience the warmth of the Turkmen people. Explore Konye Urgench the spectacular UNESCO ruins of the 12th century capital of Khwarezm and walk amongst mausoleums, minarets and caravanserai. This was once one of the greatest cities along the famed Silk Road.

Crossing the Karakum Desert towards Mary, the gateway to the ruins of another UNESCO World Heritage site, you will discover Merv, the cultural mecca for many a religious civilisation through history. Following the route that runs close to the Iranian border and taking in the distant peaks of the Kopet Dag, we head towards the remarkable capital city of Ashgabat. There will also be opportunities to visit the once mighty fortress of Nissa, the underground lake of Kow Ata and Geokdepe Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Turkmenistan.

Combining Turkmenistan with Uzbekistan will make a comprehensive tour of the wonders of the Silk Road, or add in Iran and Kyrgyzstan and journey along lesser-travelled stretches of this ancient route.
